The processor is the brain of your PC: it determines smoothness, stability, and much of how your build will feel over time. Choosing it well doesn't mean buying the most expensive one, but the one that best balances with the rest of your build. Here's what actually matters.
Cores and threads: how many do I need?
Cores are like "workers" inside the processor: each one can handle a task. Threads are each core's ability to handle more than one thing at a time. More cores help when you're doing several heavy things in parallel (editing video, streaming while gaming, etc.).
